DEFENDING champion Eczasibasi VitrA Istanbul scored a masterful, 25-17, 25-18, 25-15, victory over Pomi Casalmaggiore on Tuesday in Pool A of the FIVB Women’s Club World Championship at the Mall of Asia Arena.
Tijana Boskovic, a member of the silver medal winning Serbian team in the 2016 Rio Olympics, led the way for Eczasibasi VitrA Istanbul with 18 points from 11 kills, four blocks and three service aces.
Thaisa Daher scored nine points and Tatiana Kosheleva added eight for Eczasibasi VitrA Istanbul.
“There are so many matches, we need to win minimum of two matches and that’s the first goal, this is not a very easy group,” said Eczasibasi VitrA Istanbul coach Massimo Barbolini. “Even the other group is not so easy too.”
USA national team members Jordan Larson and Rachael Adams contributed seven markers apiece for Eczasibasi VitrA Istanbul.
Samanta Fabris scored seven points for Pomi Casalmaggiore.
