NCAA defending champion Emilio Aguinaldo College advanced to the quarterfinals of the Spikers’ Turf Collegiate Conference with a 25-22, 26-24, 25-17 win over Mapua at The Arena in San Juan on Monday.
Howard Mojica, the reigning NCAA Most Valuable Player, unloaded 19 points for the Generals, while Kerth Melliza and Israel Encina supported him by combining for 21 markers.
“Nag-relax kasi sa first two sets and naka-contribute din na malakas yung depensa ng Mapua,” noted EAC coach Rodrigo Palmero as the Generals were pushed to the limit by the Cards in the first two sets.
It was the third straight win for the Generals to lead Group A.
Philip Michael Bagalay had 16 points for the winless Cardinals, who fell to 0-3 overall.
