THE PHILIPPINE Super Liga prepares to return to training when government eases lockdown restrictions.

Even as the country is put under Modified Enhanced Community Quarantine again, the PSL looks forward to resumption of practice as the Department of Health made its recommendations for team protocols.

In a letter dated July 23 and signed by DOH Assistant Secretary Nestor Santiago, the Health Department noted that like other professional sports that will be allowed to resume training, teams are only allowed skeletal workforce, while noting the requirements for training facilities such as ventilation and hand washing stations, among others.

The DOH also warned against indiscriminate testing of asymptomatic individuals.

There is no set date for the league’s resumption of training.

In the Philippine Basketball Association, COVID-19 test scheduling issues have delayed the resumption of training, before goverment decided to put the country in MECQ for 14 days starting on Tuesday.

“This is really a big development as we are the first volleyball league to be allowed to return to training. We assured the government that we will do everything to follow the protocols and make sure that training and conditioning sessions would be safe and healthy for everyone.”
