DINDIN Santiago-Manabat is a happily pregnant.
The volleyball star out of National University is currently on a break owing to her pregnancy, but she appears contented and certainly doesn't mind being away from the limelight.
The 22-year old married longtime boyfriend Chico Manabat last year and, two weeks on the family way, announced her pregnancy before teammates shortly after Petron lost to Foton in the finals of the Philippine Super Liga Grand Prix in December.
Spin.ph caught up with the former Petron ace when she watched the UAAP juniors’ finals between National University and De La Salle-Zobel at The Arena in San Juan over the weekend. Her husband Chico serves as deputy coach of the unbeaten Bullpups.
“Ok naman, masaya (magbuntis),” said Dindin, whose baby bump is already visible while wearing a fitted dress.
Hesitant at first to grant an interview saying she’s in a hurry, Dindin eventually warmed up and talked about her pregnancy and cravings, which includes mangoes and her husband’s cheeks.
“Simula noong una, noong nasa Japan kami (naglilihi na ako),” she revealed.
“Manggang puti, kailangan puti hindi siya dilaw, kapag dilaw siya ‘di ko siya kakainin, tapos pisngi ni Chico,” she added laughing while her husband sat by her side.
“Ayoko ng beef, chicken, at hotdog,” she continued.
As for the usual morning sickness, Dindin admitted feeling a bit dizzy every now and then, but doesn’t seem to mind.
“Morning sickness nako-control ko, nahihilo ako at sumasakit ang ulo ko, pero hindi ako nasusuka. Ine-enjoy ko naman ang pagbubuntis ko,” she said.
