UNIVERSITY of the Philippines top hitter Diana Carlos is moving forward after the resignation of head coach Jerry Yee.
It was a hard time for the Lady Maroons as their four-year mentor finalized his departure.
Although she never saw it coming, Carlos, who was Yee's recruit from Hope Christian School, had no choice but to accept her coach’s decision.
“Kami nirerespeto lang namin ang desisyon ni coach,” said Carlos after UP defeated Technological University of the Philippines, 25-20, 25-9, 25-13, in the Premier Volleyball League Collegiate Conference on Monday at The Arena in San Juan.
Yee first announced his resignation on July 15 through his personal Facebook account. However, he returned to the team a few days later his post on the social media.
But on August 31, he finally called it quits.
“Sinasabi lang namin na we play for the school and for each other naman eh, adjust lang kami. Kung ano ang nandyan go lang kasi hindi naman namin control yun eh,” said Carlos.
Yee replaced Jarod Hubalde in Season 76 and steered the team to a Final Four finish in UAAP Season 78.
He brought in then blue chip recruits Carlos and Isa Molde, who became vital cogs for the Lady Maroons in the Season 78 campaign that ended their 13-year Final Four drought in the UAAP. Molde was eventually named Rookie of the Year.
