DESIREE Cheng is set to undergo surgery after suffering a torn ACL in her left knee during an exhibition game recently.
Lady Spikers coach Ramil de Jesus said they are in no hurry to get the incoming third year player back in action after she joined Ara Galang and Camille Cruz on the La Salle injured list, all on knee issues.
De Jesus said it is doubtful Cheng can recover in time for the coming UAAP volleyball season.

“Two weeks pa bago ma-operahan,” said De Jesus. “Malabo (na siya for this season). Hindi na aabot ‘yun.”
Galang suffered multiple knee injuries during the stepladder phase of UAAP Season 77, forcing her to miss the finals against eventual champion Ateneo.
On the other hand, Cruz tore an ACL during the finals series.
