DENDEN Lazaro is not expected to miss Game Three of the UAAP women’s volleyball finals despite an ankle injury she suffered on Saturday.
Lazaro twisted her ankle while chasing the ball in the first set of Game Two. She went on to return and finish the match, but visibly hobbled as the Ateneo lost to three-time defending champion La Salle in four sets.
The injury came after the pretty Ateneo libero won the Best Digger and Best Receiver awards prior to the match.
But team manager Tony Boy Liao allayed fears of a serious injury for Lazaro as he assured the Ateneo star will be suiting up for the all-important for Game Three on Wednesday at the Mall of Asia Arena.
“Yes, ready to play,” said Liao.
The longtime volleyball patron bared Lazaro was able to attend the team’s training session on Sunday.
But even with the presence of Lazaro, Ateneo still has a mountain to climb as De La Salle is just a win away from completing its run to a fourth straight UAAP championship.
On the other hand, the Lady Eagles need to win two in a row to dethrone the Lady Spikers and win their first ever league championship.
