Denden Lazaro believes Philippine women's volley team members will find rhythm in time for int'l events

    Jun 30, 2017

LIBERO Denden Lazaro believes the national team members will be able to get into the rhythm in time for the Asian and Southeast Asian tournaments where they are entered next month

Rarely complete during training at the Arellano gym, the national players get a chance to practice daily together in Japan from July 17 to August 2.

The team will participate in the 19th Asian Senior Women’s Volleyball Championship in Laguna set August 9 to 17 in Laguna before it competes in the 29th Southeast Asian Games in Kuala Lumpur from August 19 to 31.

“Well outside the court everyone’s ok, we’re all good but 'yun nag pagdating sa loob (ng court) may kapaan pa 'yan, some of us haven’t played together in a competitive level,” said Lazaro.

“But I think as long as we’re on the same page, we all want to improve, we all want to win, madali na lang 'yan 'yung mag-jell sa loob ng court we just have to give it time,” she added.

Lazaro was again called up to the national team along with skipper Mika Reyes, Alyssa Valdez, Jovelyn Gonzaga, Jaja Santiago, Ces Molina, Maika Ortiz, Rhea Dimaculangan, Kim Fajardo, Aiza Maizo-Pontillas, Any Marano, Gen Casugod, Denden Lazaro, Kim Dy and Dawn Macandili.

The 25-year old libero, part of the Philippine team that placed fifth in the 2015 SEA Games, believes the overseas training will be a big help.

“We’re really thankful for that syempre,” she said. “Marami kaming matututunan doon and sana mapolish pa naming ang galaw namin.”
