DENDEN Lazaro and LA Revilla have defied expectations with a relationship that, from the looks of it, remains as strong as ever.
Now they have a chance to achieve another unique feat.
After winning a UAAP championship each for rival schools during their college careers, Revilla and Lazaro hold the honor of being part of the national training pool of their respective sport.
Revilla, a heady guard of Mahindra in the PBA, is part of the Gilas Pilipinas pool for the Seaba and Fiba Asia championship while Lazaro has been called up into the volleyball pool ahead of the Southeast Asian Games and Asian championships.
If making the pool is already an honor, Lazaro said she and Revilla making both national teams would be 'really special."
“Making it to the national team together is our dream,” said the former Ateneo Lady Eagles star. “If me and LA make it to the national team? I think it’s gonna be something special.”
Chasing that dream, however, entails sacrifices, which both are willing to make.
Both have hectic training schedules - Denden has weekly practice with the national team aside from his training with Superliga side Cocolife and hosting gigs, while LA has daily practices and games with Mahindra and Gilas - that they barely see each other.
But the defense specialist said they are both ready to make a little sacrifice on babe time for the sake of the national team.
“Playing for the country is something every player has been dreaming of. It’s a serious commitment,” Revilla said.
