DEANNA Wong is confident Ateneo will quickly bounce back after an opening-day loss, saying the Lady Eagles already know the areas of their game they need to work on.
The Lady Eagles allowed the Far Eastern University Lady Tamaraws 20 points on service aces and the poor reception led to their struggles getting into scoring position.
"Well, sayang lang, sayang lang. We were like up na by like I think five points. But then it's a lesson to be learned lang talaga. I think we have much to improve on lang," she said.
"I think as a team, we know na our weakness, and receive talaga," Wong added. "But it's our first game, improve lang talaga. Kaya naman. Kahit ma-ace, babawiin naman namin sa spiker points."
It will be another tough match for Ateneo on Wednesday as it takes on National University, and Wong is eager to do much better.
She admitted there was some pressure taking over the spot of league best setter Jia Morado, but the former USJR playmaker did fine in her first outing with four points and 40 excellent sets.
"It's okay naman, it's nerve-wracking lang talaga, jitters lang," she admitted.
"But then as the game kept on going, parang nawawala na 'yung isip ko sa labas, tsaka nag-focus na ako sa mase-set ko lang 'yung bola sa teammates ko."
