LA Salle provisionally moved to the top of the UAAP women’s volleyball standings with a 25-13, 25-14, 25-16 victory on Saturday at the MOA Arena.

The Lady Spikers scored their 11th win in 13 matches, while Ateneo at 10-2 has a match in hand.

Majoy Baron scored 13 points for La Salle, Desiree Cheng added eight and Ernestine Tiamzon chipped in seven.

“Kami naman sabi nga namin target namin Final Four, nakuha na namin ang top two masaya na kami,” said La Salle assistant coach Noel Orcullo.

“Although big game sa Saturday (against Ateneo) kailangan namin bumawi.”

La Salle started flat, 1-5, but easily gained control, dominating Adamson in attacks (33-21), blocks (8-3) and scored six service aces against none by the Lady Falcons in the one hour and 13-minute match.

“Masyadong mabagal ang umpisa, binigyan lang namin sila ng reminder dahil and Adamson lumalaban talaga, nothing to lose, kapag nagpabaya ka sa kanila pwede Kang masilat,” said Orcullo.

Kim Dy, last year's finals MVP, was relegated to cheering duties at the sidelines after spraining her left ankle in the match against University of Sto. Tomas on Wednesday.

Arriane Layug started in Dy’s place and finished with three points.

“Kasi may advice ang doctor na she has to rest for three days so kesa lumala ang sprain, ipinahinga na lang although hindi naman masyado maga,” said Orcullo.

Jema Galanza scored 12 points for the Lady Falcons, who remained winless in 13 outings in the season and have suffered 20 straight losses since last year.
