DAWN Macandili said the Lady Archers are using the recent comments of La Salle coach Ramil De Jesus as motivation to perform better in the UAAP Season 80 women’s volleyball tournament.

De Jesus lashed at the Lady Spikers after a four-set loss to Adamson, describing their play as “barangay level.”

“Dapat kapag suot mo ang jersey ng La Salle, dapat larong La Salle ang gagawin mo, hindi ‘yung, sabi ko nga kanina, parang ang suot mo isang team eh,” said De Jesus.

It was a wake-up call, says Macandili.

“Nagising ‘yung team,” said Macandili on Tuesday night on the sidelines of the Philippine Sportswriters Association (PSA) Awards Night where she was named Ms. Volleyball.

“Nakita namin ‘yung ibang point of view na na-realize namin na oo nga, pambarangay ‘yung laro namin. Kailangan namin baguhin. Hindi kami ‘yun. Kailangan namin dalhi ‘yung A-game namin ng bawat isa,” said Macandili.

The Lady Spikers share second place with Ateneo at 4-2 and Macandili is confident the Lady Spikers have time to make adjustments as they try to make it three titles in a row.

“We can’t conclude anything yet dahil pa-end pa lang ‘yung first round. We will see the second round. I believe in my team na we can push our limits and go to amazing heights,” said Macandili.
