AFTER a straight sets win over National University in Game One of the 10th Shakey’s V-League First Conference Finals, three-peat seeking Ateneo is more than determined to finish the title series on Sunday.
“Siyempre we want to get Game Two kaya paghihirapan namin kunin (ang panalo para champion na),” said Ateneo guest player Rachel Ann Daquis, best exemplifying the approach of the whole team.
The former Far Eastern University stalwart fired 14 points, including seven excellent digs as the Lady Eagles totally outclassed the Lady Bulldogs, 25-15, 25-22, 25-23, on Thursday in a series opener that was over in 74 minutes.
"Double effort pa ako sa Game Two (para masigurado na ang panalo)," vowed Daquis.
Already a powerful force with the presence of ace spiker Alyssa Valdez, Fille Cainglet, and Daquis, the two-time reigning champion became even more formidable after tapping the services of two-time league MVP Jeng Bualee during the semifinals.
With the Thai import coming aboard, Daquis has no doubt Ateneo can nail a third straight V-League championship.
"Solid na dati," said Daquis. "Ngayon mas naging solid pa."
Game Two of the title series is set Sunday at the MOA Arena starting at 3 p.m. It will be carried live over GMA News TV.
