IT’S now or never for De La Salle outside hitter Cyd Demecillo.
Looking to end her La Salle career on a high note, Demecillo has vowed a bounce back game from the Lady Spikers after suffering the humiliation of wasting a two-seat lead against third seed Far Eastern University, 15-25, 23-25, 25-23, 25-21, 16-14, on Sunday.
Demecillo said there won't be a repeat of that horror loss when the twice-to-beat Lady Spikers and the Lady Tamaraws meet in a do-or-die game on Wednesday at the MOA Arena.
“Babawi pa rin (kami) wala na, it’s now or never,” she said. “Last playing year (ko na), (hindi na) mauulit ang nangyari before.”
Demecillo, who had a couple of errors early the match, stepped up and scored several crucial points in the fifth set but her heroics went for naught after her final attack sailed out of bounds with FEU at match point.
She thought the ball hit an FEU block in the crucial point.
“Nagulat ako [sa] bilis ng pangyayari. Check eh, tingin ko talaga check. Kung may challenge lang siguro makikita ‘yun,” she said. “May tinamaan eh. Nasa gitna nagba-block [so] imposibleng ganun naman kamay ng blocker (spreads arms). ‘Yun lang, bilog talaga bola.”
The Lady Spikers will have to get over the heartbreak and get their act together - exactly what they intend to do, Demecillo said.
“Syempre normal feeling na talo, ang sakit, (but) babawi of course,” said Demecillo.
