MAKE it a 19-player pool for Alas Pilipinas as Creamline’s Jema Galanza and Tots Carlos became the latest additions to the women’s volleyball national team.

Newly re-signed Alas mentor Jorge de Drito confirmed the Cool Smashers’ inclusions to the squad to select reporters on Tuesday morning.
Carlos and Galanza were among the first players invited to the Alas pool for the 2024 AVC Challenge Cup. Both declined in light of a long-planned celebratory trip to Spain for the newly crowned PVL champions.
But moving forward, Alas’ long-term vision includes much-needed champion-caliber starpower from no less than the Premier Volleyball League’s (PVL) winningest team.
Carlos and Galanza previously played for the national team when Creamline was chosen to represent the Philippines in the 2022 AVC Challenge Cup in which they finished sixth in the nine-nation field.

They also stand as two of the Cool Smashers’ most decorated stars as Carlos, a five-time PVL champion with Creamline, has three conference MVPs, four best opposite spiker nods, one best outside hitter plum and a former Finals MVP.
As one of three remaining pioneers from the original 2017 roster with Alyssa Valdez and Pau Soriano, Galanza has eight PVL titles, five best outside hitter awards, a conference MVP and a Finals MVP nod to her name.
