CREAMLINE won’t be satisfied with a semifinal finish and will seek to defy odds as the Cool Smashers battle the Balipure Water Defenders in the Premier Volleyball League Reinforced Conference.
The No. 4 Creamline has a tough task against the top-seeded Water Defenders in the best-of-three series, but Almadro says the Cool Smashers cannot simply roll over and die.
The series opener is set at 4 p.m. on Saturday at The Arena in San Juan.
“Well, sabi ko nga, hindi pwedeng huminto. We should not stop by going to the semis only,” said Creamline assistant coach Oliver Almadro.
“Of course we are now in the semis, and we now have a chance for the finals,” he added.
The Cool Smashers had a tough start and won only one match in the first round-robin phase, before going 2-1 in the second round-robin to gain a semifinal spot.
The Water Defenders, meanwhile, claimed the top spot in the first round robin with a 7-3 win-loss record, making the semifinals outright.
“It's all about mindset, we just have to set our minds on what is above, we have to pray hard, and we really have to sacrifice a lot,” said Almadro, who hopes to get even better performances this time from the squad skippered by Alyssa Valdez and also featuring Thai hitter Kuttika Kaewpin and American import Laura Schaudt, Pau Soriano, Ivy Remulla and Jema Galanza.
