ALYSSA Valdez believes Creamline's composure in an intense do-or-die match against BaliPure is key for the Cool Smashers to book the first Finals berth in the Premier Volleyball League Reinforced Conference on Thursday at the PhilSports Arena.
Game time is at 4:00 p.m.
The Cool Smashers dragged the Water Defenders to a decider after a 24-26, 25-18, 18-25, 25-16, 16-14 win in Game Two of the best-of-three semifinals series.
Coming off a morale-boosting win, Valdez hopes her teammates will be able to keep their emotions in check to stay focused on what they have to do in the winner-take-all match.
“Sana lang ma-maintain namin ang composure namin as a team, ‘yun ‘yung important thing siguro,” said the Creamline captain.
Valdez, however, could not help but look back on their journey in the conference.
The Cool Smashers started their first six games without their imports Kuttika Kaewpin and Laura Schaudt due to lack of International Transfer Certificates.
Creamline finished fifth at the end of the elimination round but due to the change in format midway in the tournament the team made it to the round robin quarterfinals and eventually the best-of-three semifinals.
“Sabi nga namin bago mag-start yung PVL na season, hindi mo talaga alam kung ano't ano ang mangyayari sa bawat game,” she recalled.
