CIGNAL had a lengthy postmatch team meeting following the semifinal opener despite beating Sta. Elena in four sets of the Spikers Turf Open Conference semifinal series opener.
Head coach Michael Carino said he spoke to the team for at least 30 minutes as he was upset with his team’s play in Game One of the best-of-three semifinal series even with the 25-22, 19-25, 25-22, 26-24 victory.
“Medyo maraming lapses, ‘yun nga ‘yung pinagusapan namin. Medyo mahaba haba ‘yung meeting namin kasi ayoko na maulit ‘yun mext time,” said Carino, whose team is the top-seed in the semifinals.
“’Yung last set, lamang kami ng lima then inunti-unti kami ng kabila, tapos nawalan ng receive, nawalan ng service, marami kaming unforced errors na ginawa nung last set which is hindi na dapat kailangan sa game,” Carino said.
Carino said his wards should shape up and play better in the second match or risk being forced to a rubber match or even losing the semifinals to fourth-seed Sta. Elena.
“Kasi kung gusto namin manalo talaga, kung baga, yung flow ng game kami yung magcocontrol hindi yung sila yung magcocontrol for us," he said. Gabriel Pe
