CIGNAL tries to extend its winning streak to three when it clashes with Cagayan Valley in the Philippine Super Liga Grand Prix on Wednesday at the Ynares Sports Arena in Pasig City.
With the team’s improved chemistry and communication on and off the court, mainly with the help of translators, HD Spikers mentor Sammy Acaylar is positive they can prevail in their 2 p.m. game.
The Lady Rising Suns and HD Spikers are currently tied for third with a 2-1 record.
Acaylar also stressed that they need to take advantage of the absence of Cagayan Valley star Angge Tabaquero, who is out with knee and shoulder injuries.
Setter Chie Saet, who previously played for Cagayan Valley in another league, is now playing for Cignal and it would be interesting to see how effective or predictable the HD Spikers offense would run with her facilitating the attack.
“Paghahandaan naming sila, ’yung blocking namin aayusin lalo na walang Tabaquero at ’yung setter nila andito na sa akin,” said Acaylar.
PLDT MyDSL also guns for its third straight win as it faces winless Petron.
The Lady Speed Speed Boosters are on a roll after shoving TMS Philippine Army out of the top spot.
Sue Roces and American reinforcement Savannah Noyes are expected to again provide firepower for PLDT MyDSL in their 4 p.m. match up.
In the men’s action, PLDT MyDSL and Maybank battle it out at 6 p.m.
The Speed Boosters featuring actor and multi-sport star Richard Gomez hold a 1-1 win-loss card, while the Tigers are winless in two starts.
