CIGNAL completed the semifinal cast of the Philippine Super Liga Grand Prix after it disposed of Petron, 19-25, 25-19, 25-15, 25-22 on Wednesday at the Ynares Sports Arena in Pasig City.
The HD Spikers joined PLDT MyDSL, TMS Philippine Army and Cagayan in the round of four.
Cebu-based spiker Danila Gendrauli came with 17 points, while Lei Xie added 15 and Li Zhangzhan, Abi Praca and Maureen Penetrante-Ouano each had 11 markers for Cignal.
After a poor opening set, Cignal rallied to gain control to set up a semifinal showdown with PLDT MyDSL.
Penetrante-Ouano came up with three straight points to post a 23-19 lead in the fourth set.
The HD Spikers gave away three points to the Blaze Spikers after a series of errors, 22-23, but Penetrante-Ouano positioned Cignal at match point and Chinese import Li Zhangzhan finished the match.
"Ang sabi ko sa kanila walang ibang gagawin kundi ibigay ng ibigay ang bola kay Penetrante," said Cignal coach Sammy Acaylar. "We won the game pero nakakakaba."
"Mabigat silang kalaban but we have to fight," he added.
Shinako Tanaka finished with 13 points, while Paneng Mercado and Micmic Laborte had 12 and 10 markers, respectively, for Petron.
