CHINA’s top hitter Liu Yanhan was named as the Most Valuable Player of the first Asian Under 23 Women’s Championships on Saturday at the Philsports Arena.
The 22-year old Liu finished with 28 points in their gold medal clinching win over Thailand, 27-25, 21-25, 25-21, 25-11.
Liu also won the award for second best outside spiker, with Korea’s Soyoung Lee the best outside spiker.
Thailand’s Hattaya Bamrungsuk was named best middle blocker and China’s Zheng Yixin the second best middle blocker.
Pimpichaya Kokram of Thailand was the best opposite spiker.
The top libero was Korea’s Yeongyeon Kim, who had 19 of the team’s 42 excellent digs in their bronze medal clinching win over Japan, 26-24, 25-23, 25-15.
The best setter was China’s Chen Xingtong, who had all of the team’s 24 excellent sets in championship match.
