CHERY Tiggo recovered from its straight-set semis shutout by whipping College of St. Benilde, 25-20, 25-13, 25-13, in the bronze medal game, of the 2024 PNVF Champions League on Saturday at the Rizal Memorial Coliseum.
Newly-minted team captain Aby Maraño blazed the bronze trail with 10 points on six attacks, two blocks, and two aces.

It was a podium-clinching win as swift as can be for the Crossovers, who’ll shift their focus to the Premier Volleyball League’s (PVL) season-opening conference in 10 days’ time.
“Siyempre masaya rin kahit paano, marami kami natutunan dito bago mag PVL. Hopefully, ma-polish pa namin ‘yung mga galaw namin at mag-work pa kami as a team,” said Ara Galang, who fired 10 points in the third-place game.
Crossovers deputy coach Kungfu Reyes added: “Maganda ‘yung experience kasama sila Ara (Galang) at Tyang (Aby Maraño). Great start para sa amin. Naitawid namin eh.”
Former PVL MVP Mylene Paat dished out six of her 11 markers in the opening set to put Chery Tiggo in a strong striking position early on.
From there, Maraño had the lion's share in points in the two closing frames, including six in the third set alone, to deny the gutsy Lady Blazers a chance to force an extension just as they did against eventual finalists Cignal in both of their tournament meetings.
