UNIVERSITY of Sto. Tomas recorded its first back-to-back wins of the season while sending National University to its third straight loss, 21-25, 25-14, 25-14, 25-12, on Wednesday in the UAAP Season 79 women's volleyball tournament at The Arena in San Juan.
Team captain Sisi Rondina finished with 15 points, 16 digs and 10 excellent receptions, while EJ Laure added 11 and Mary Pacres, who came off the bench, chipped in 11 markers, including an off speed attack and a service ace to seal the win for UST.
UST improved its win-loss record to 3-3 and are now tied for fifth with NU.
The Tigresses wreaked havoc with 45 attack points compared to 25 of the Lady Bulldogs. The Espana-based squad also had 12 service aces, thrice the output registered by NU from the service line.
Ateneo and La Salle are on top with 4-1 records, while Far Eastern University and University of the Philippines are in joint third at 4-2.
Jaja Santiago was the lone bright spot for NU with 15 points.
