SAN Beda University reached the Final Four of the NCAA Season 94 women’s volleyball tournament after a 25-20, 25-15, 25-18 win over San Sebastian College on Tuesday at the Arena in San Juan City.
Team captain Cesca Racraquin showed the way for the Lady Red Spikers, delivering 14 points off 12 kills and a pair of aces, while adding seven excellent receptions.
Nieza Viray contributed nine points and had 15 digs, while Trisha Paras also had nine markers as San Beda stopped San Sebastian in just 64 minutes and marched into their third consecutive semifinal appearance.
The Lady Red Spikers tightened their hold of second place with a 7-1 win-loss record.
“Bago mag-umpisa ang game kanina sinabihan ko ang mga bata na i-secure namin ang Final Four,” said San Beda head coach Nemesio Gavino. “Kailangan naming ipanalo ang game na ito and then saka namin isipin ang susunod na mangyayari.”
The Lady Red Spikers will try to secure a twice-to-beat advantage when they take on last year’s finals rival and current leader Arellano Lady Chiefs (7-0) on Tuesday next week.
Joyce Sta. Rita had nine points for San Sebastian, which fell to fifth place with a 4-3 record and need to win their last two matches to keep alive their chances of making the semifinals. San Sebastian plays College of Saint Benilde (6-1) on Friday and University of Perpetual Help (4-2) next week.
