CANADA waxed hot and remained unbeaten in the Manila leg of the 2024 Volleyball Men’s Nations League (VNL) with a massive sweep of Brazil, 26-24, 25-19, 26-24, on Friday at the Mall of Asia Arena.
Eric Loeppky commanded the attack for the in-form Canadians with a game-high 21 points built on 16 attacks, three aces, and two blocks, lifting the world No. 9 to fourth place at 7-4 (win-loss).

For the 25-year-old spiker, every win marks an important stride in pursuit of hitting peak form ahead of the VNL Finals Week and their all-important Olympic campaign come July.
“Every week, if you guys have been following on, we’ve been getting better. I’m not surprised (with our form and) I really trust and believe in our team and I think we can do great things,” said Loeppky.
“Obviously, huge win. We won together and I think that's why we won. We’ll just focus on next game and then try to book our ticket to the Final 8.”
Canada no one-man show
Canadian one-two punch Stephen Maar and Arthur Szwarc also connived for 23 attacks to aid their cause.
While still well inside the Top 8 at 6-5, Brazil’s two-day, two-game stretch saw two tough losses to American sides USA and Canada.
Ace hitter Darlan Souza was held to just 12 points built on 10 attacks and two aces and was the only player in double-figures.
