Cagayan Valley outplays RC Cola to get back on winning track

CAGAYAN Valley quickly bounced back from a stunning loss, downing RC Cola, 23-25, 25-16, 25-18, 25-12, in the Philippine Super Liga Grand Prix at Ynares Sports Arena in Pasig on Wednesday.

Wanida Kotruang led the Lady Rising Suns with 23 points from an all-around performance of 17 spikes, four blocks and three service aces.

Aiza Maizo added 13, Patchare Sangmuang contributed 12 and Pau Soriano had 10 for Cagayan Valley, which improved its win-loss record to 2-1.

Cagayan’s 17-game winning streak, dating back to their previous tournament Shakey's V-League Open Conference, came to an end with a four-set loss to Army last week.

But the Nes Pamilar-coached squad is back on the winning track, outplaying the Raiders by coming up with 38 excellent digs compared to 25 of RC Cola.

Cagayan Valley also had 34 successful sets while the Raiders only had 24.

Minghua Zhang finished with 24 points, while Sontaya Kaewbundit added 14 for RC Cola, which remained winless in two games.
