CAGAYAN Valley-Perpetual Help and Sandugo-San Sebastian eye sweeps while Army and Ateneo hope to extend their campaign when the semifinals of the Shakey's V League Open Conference resumes Friday at the Ninoy Aquino Stadium.
The Rising Suns stunned the defending champion Lady Troopers in three sets and will again bank on Thai reinforcement Kunbang Pornpimol and top locals Sandra delos Santos, Honey Royse Tubino and team captain Joy Cases as they go for a slot in the finals.
"Pagbubutihin pa namin, masarap kasi ang makatungtong sa Finals," said Cagayan coach Mike Rafael.
Philippine Army tries to bounce back from their poor performance against the Rising Suns and force a do-or-die game on Sunday. Gametime is at 6 p.m.
Meanwhile, league-leading Sandugo-San Sebastian is favored to complete a sweep of its semifinal against undermanned Ateneo.
Still missing some of its starters who are skipping the series to concentrate on important school matters, Ateneo will again fight with broken wings in their 4 p.m. clash with the Lady Stags.
It is exam week at Ateneo and Fille Cainglet, Alyssa Valdez, Dzi Gervacio and liberos Denden Lazaro and Bea Tan missed the first semifinal match.
Cainglet will again miss the action along with several teammates and Sandugo-San Sebastian is expected to take advantage of Ateneo's situation to ease into the finals.
