SAN Sebastian tests the mettle of early leader Ateneo when the two powerhouse teams collide in a battle of collegiate league bridesmaids in the 10th Shakey's V-League at the Arena in San Juan on Thursday.

The SSC belles get a tough test right in their first game of the season, facing the Lady Eagles who are off to a flyer with a straight-sets victory over perennial contender University of Santo Tomas on opening day.

The Recto-based spikers will be led by power-hitting import Thai Jeng Bualee, as they try to open their bid on a high note.

Gametime is at 4 p.m.

San Sebastian, which placed second to Perpetual Help in Season 88 of the NCAA, also has super rookie Gretchel Soltones.

The Lady Eagles share the top spot in Group A with La Salle-Dasmariñas at 1-0 slate and will look to capture the solo lead.

Ateneo, runner-up to La Salle in the UAAP, will again lean on veteran Fille Cainglet, sophomore Alyssa Valdez and guest player Rachel Anne Daquis.
