BRYAN Bagunas showed the way as National University eliminated University of Santo Tomas, 25-13, 25-13, 31-29, on Sunday to books its sixth straight finals stint in the UAAP Season 80 men’s volleyball tournament at the MOA Arena.
Bagunas scored a career-high 29 points on 24 kills, one block and three service aces, and also had 10 excellent receptions.
“Syempre gawa rin naman sa ginagawa namin sa school, kaya masaya kami na nakuha ulit namin itong pang-anim na appearance sa Finals,” said NU coach Dante Alinsunurin.
The top-seeded Bulldogs wait for their finals opponent as Far Eastern University and Ateneo play in a do-or-die match on Wednesday at The Arena in San Juan.
Alinsunurin says they will be prepared for either team.
“Mahirap pumili eh, ‘di ba? Pero sabi namin kung sino man ‘yung manalo, paghahandaan namin,” he said.
“Kung ano ‘yung pwede naming gawin para maibalik namin ‘yung championship trophy sa NU, gagawin namin,” he added.
Jayvee Sumagaysay had 10 points for UST.
Sumagaysay, Arnold Bautista and Tyrone Carodan played their last match for UST in the UAAP.
