MEGA Builders dethroned defending champion Air Force and arranged a finals showdown with Cignal, which disposed of Sta. Elena in the men’s division of the Premier Volleyball League Open Conference on Sunday at The Arena in San Juan.
The best-of-three finals starts on Wednesday.
The Volley Bolt defeated the Jet Spikers, 25-23, 25-22, 26-24, with Fauzi Ismail and Kim Malabunga combining for 25 points.
National team member Bryan Bagunas and James Natividad added eight markers apiece for Mega Builders.
Philippine team standout Ranran Abdilla scored 21 points for Air Force, while skipper Jefrrey Malabanan chipped in 16.
Meanwhile, Lorenzo Capate, Peter Torres and team captain Ysay Marasigan led Cignal's assault to defeat Sta. Elena, 25-21, 25-18, 25-20.
Capate had 11 points, while Torres and Marasigan had 10 markers apiece.
Edmar Bonono contributed eight points for the HD Spikers, while Rex Intal and national team member Mark Alfafara chipped in seven markers apiece.
Skipper Berlin Paglinawan and Joven Camaganakan combined for 23 points for Sta. Elena.
