NATIONAL University bucked some shaky moments in the third set to complete a 25-20, 25-22, 25-23 rout of Far Eastern University on Saturday in the UAAP volleyball tournament at The Arena in San Juan.
After taking the first two sets handily, the Bulldogs found themselves trailing the Tamaraws 21-19.
Fauzi Ismail broke the tie at 23 to put NU at match point, before poor reception ultimately led to FEU's demise.
"After the first two sets, medyo nag relax. Pero I hope we learn a lesson from what happened nung third set," said head coach Dante Alinsunurin.
Bryan Bagunas was effective on all fronts as he finished with 11 attacks, three service aces and two blocks to pace the Bulldogs, who improved to 4-1.
Ismail added 15 markers, 14 from spikes, while Kim Malabuga chipped in 12 points.
Greg Dolor paced the Tamaraws with 13 while John Paul Bugaoan added 10 points.
