A FIELD of 100 players from all over the world will see action in one of the world's most popular vacation destinations for the upcoming Boracay Beach Volleyball Open tournament on November 21-23, 2014.
The event, hosted by the Philippine Hotel Reservations Service (PHRS), is now on its third season and will take place in the private and luxurious beach cove property of Sol Marina Resort Boracay.
Endorsed by the Philippine Sports Commission (PSC), Progressive Volleyball Center (PVC), Philippine Beach Volleyball Association (PBVA) and the Province of Aklan, PHRS promotes the sport while boosting Boracay's stature as still the top vacation destination in the Philippines.
Lila Rosenberger, CEO of PHRS, said: “It is still our aim for the 3rd season of BBVO to promote an active lifestyle that would bring us a more positive outlook in life. Destinations like Boracay serve as a perfect backdrop to help advocate not only environmental awareness but more importantly its role as a catalyst in people’s desire to be physically fit. After all, what better place is there in the world to showcase beach volleyball, than Boracay?”
The tournament will have four Divisions: the Men’s Philippine Beach Cup (Advanced Players), Men’s Fun Cup, PAL Holidays Mixed Quattro Cup and the very first Women’s Fun Cup. BBVO is open to both leisure and competitive volleyball aficionados as long as they are above 18 years old.
Registration fees are US$50 for international players, P1,000 for Filipino players, P500 for Boracay residents and 50 percent off the second tournament price for cross registration players wanting to play in two divisions.
Live telecast of the games will be aired through Kalibo Cable, while Solar Television Network will feature the event on 9TV Daybreak.
