Best of the best seeing action in Nestea beach volleyball tournament in Boracay

THE best in Philippine collegiate beach volleyball sees action when the Nestea beach volleyball tournament returns to the scene from May 1-4 in Boracay to celebrate its 17th year anniversary.

A total of 24 teams from all over country are competing for the title in both the men and women’s divisions of the latest edition of the trailblazing beach volleyball tournament.

“This (tournament) is not just a sport, but it is an evolution of the tradition, which is the sport,” said Nestea brand manager JP Legisma during the launching of the event on Tuesday.

“Halos well represented naman lahat from Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao. So this will be a battle of the champions, the best collegiate teams in the Philippines,” said Otie Camangyan, national technical director of the premier beach tournament in the country.

Defending women’s champion Central Philippine University will be defending its crown against top contenders Adamson and San Sebastian, the reigning UAAP and NCAA beach volleyball title holders.

Completing the cast for Luzon entries are University of Santo Tomas, Lyceum of Batangas, University of Baguio, and La Salle.

Southwestern University and University of St. La Salle along with CPU will represent the Visayas region, while University of Mindanao Tagum, Mindanao State University Tawi-Tawi, and Jose Maria College will fly the flag for Mindanao.

University of the Visayas, meanwhile, stakes its title in the men’s side against 11 other teams led by reigning UAAP champion National University.

Other entries from Luzon include College of St. Benilde, First Asian Institute of Technology & Humanities, and Saint Louis University for Luzon.

The Visayas and Mindanao regions will be represented by USLS, SWU, Foundation University, University of San Jose Recoletos, University of Southern Philippines, University of Mindanao Tagum, and Mindanao State University Tawi-Tawi.
