STA. Elena clinched the third semis spot with a 25-17, 25-19, 25-21 win over Army on Saturday in the men's division of the Premier Volleyball League at The Arena in San Juan.
Berlin Paglinawan scored 13, Ace Mandani had 11 points, while Israel Encina and Kurt Rosete each scored 10 for the Wrecking Balls.
Sta. Elena, coming off a loss to Instituto Estetico Manila, improved their record to 3-1, to join Cignal (3-1) and Air Force (4-1) in the semifinals.
“Tie kami ng Cignal ngayon, aside from ranking, battle of pride ito," said Sta. Elena coach Arnold Laniog.
“Sa amin (coaching staff), as along as makita namin na pumukpok sila (players), walang problema sa amin.”
Skipper Benjaylo Labide and Lemuel Arbasto scored 10 apiece for Army, which dropped to 2-3, tied with IEM.
