BEACH Royals Philippines is holding the King and Queen of the Sands, a unique one-day beach volleyball tournament on Saturday at SM Sands by the Bay.
Eight female and eight male volleyball players will compete in the tournament, a mixed-doubles event with a twist as players get a new partner for each match. Each player will look to gain points for himself/herself and the top players with the most points at the end of the day will be named champions.
Fiola Ceballos, who won the ‘Queen of the Sands’ tournament last month, is seeing action along with Gretchen Ho, Charo Soriano, Michelle Morente, Bea Tan, Patty Orendain, Alexa Micek, and Kayla Williams.
The male players are AJ Pareja, Rocky Honrade, Jade Becaldo, Hack Gilbuena, Jeriel Apelar, JP Pareja, Kris Roy Guzman, and Tim Young.
“As athletes of the sport, we thought of creating this tournament to establish some regular activities for beach volleyball, something that has been missing for the past years. We also hope to grow our community of beach volleyball players in the process and be able to spread our love for the sport all over the country,” said Ho.
