ATENEO eased to a 25-17, 25-15, 25-15 victory over Jose Rizal University in the Premier Volleyball League Collegiate Conference on Saturday at The Arena in San Juan.
Even without seasoned setter Jia Morado, the UAAP runner-up proved too much for the NCAA team.
Team captain Bea de Leon led the way with 14 points, Kat Tolentino added 11 and Jules Samonte and Maddie Madayag each had 10 markers.
"It's a good start obviously for us and I hope it continues naman," said de Leon.
"(But) every year it's a new team, we have to start all over again. We're a rebuilding team, we take it one step at a time," she added.
Ateneo scored 45 on attacks against 22 by JRU, and had blocks 7 against none by the Lady Bombers.
The Lady Eagles also had nine service aces, five more than the Lady Bombers.
Deanna Wong, who took the post left by Morado, registered all of the Lady Eagles’ 32 excellent sets.
Shola Alvarez and Karen Montojo each had nine points for JRU.
