Kazakhstan Under-23 team beats out Uzbeks in battle for ninth place

KAZAKHSTAN defeated Uzbekistan, 25-18, 25-27, 25-19, 25-16, to finish in ninth place in the 2015 Asian U23 Women’s Volleyball Championship at the Philsports Arena on Friday.

Kazakhstan team captain Natalya Akilova finished with 18 points while Anastassiya Rostovchshikova and Yana Yagodina added 12 points apiece in the team's lone win of the tournament.

The Kazakhs, who needed an hour and 45 minutes to take the match, pounded their opponents with 52 kills compared to the Uzbeks’ 33 and dished out more excellent sets (15-7).

Barhayohon Umarova came up with 12 points while Shakhnoza Musaeva added 10 markers for Uzbekistan, which finished in 10th place.
