    Pinay spikers fall short against Thailand U-23 in tuneup for SEA Grand Prix

    UNDERMANNED Philippine national team bowed to Thailand U-23, 25-22, 25-22, 23-25, 17-25, 13-15, in a tuneup game at Ramkhamhaeng University in Thailand on Monday.

    The Philippines looked set to take the friendly in straight sets with head coach Shaq delos Santos utilizing all of his players, but ended up dropping the match in five.

    Team captain Aby Marano, Kalei Mau, Alohi Robins-Hardy, Ces Molina, Aiza Maizo-Pontillas, Majoy Baron, Mylene Paat, Roselyn Doria, Kath Arado and Dawn Macandili put up a gallant stand against the younger players.

      The women’s national team are holding a 12-day training camp in Thailand before seeing action in the Southeast Asian Grand Prix at Nakhon Ratchasima from Sept. 20 to 22.

      Alyssa Valdez, Jia Morado, Jovelyn Gonzaga, Eya Laure, Maddie Madayag are expected to arrive in Thailand on Sunday.
