BRYAN Bagunas and Marck Espejo find themselves atop key statistical departments four days into the 2025 FIVB Volleyball Men’s World Championship.
Bagunas is the tournament’s second-leading scorer and attacker among hundreds of players across 32 of the world’s best volleyball teams. He has so far scored 48 points built on 43 attacks, three blocks, and two aces, averaging 24 per game.

The Alas Pilipinas Men captain also has a 55.84 percent success rate in his attacks.
"In terms of points kasi, du'n ako mas nakakatulong sa team and siyempre, hindi ko naman magagawa 'to kung wala yung mga teammates ko at lalong-lalo na coaches," Bagunas said.
In both departments, Bagunas trails Bulgarian star Aleksandar Nikolov with 54 total points (27 per game).

Outside hitter Espejo then outmatched some of the finest liberos in the men’s game by placing second overall in receptions.

Espejo has normed nine excellent receptions in two games with a 33.33 percent efficiency rate.
"Siyempre, medyo pressure din po kasi nanalo kami ng one game, so may chance pa kami makapasok sa Round of 16," he said. "Boost po talaga ng confidence yung pagkapanalo na ‘to."
Spiker-turned-libero Josh Ybanez is in joint seventh-place with a 28.26 efficiency rate.
Similarly, Owa Retamar also shares the seventh ranking in the setting department with 33 excellent sets per game.
