BINAN, Laguna — Reserves Dawn Macandili and Kim Dy are ready to support the national team be it as players on the court or cheerleaders on the sidelines, as the Philippine squad shifts its focus to the 29th Southeast Asian Games in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

Coming from an eight-day stint in the 19th AVC Asian Senior Women’s at Alonte Sports Center, the nationals will fly to Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia on Saturday for the SEA Games on August 19-31.

“Wala pa naman (nagpag-uusapan). Kasama ako as reserve. Ready naman ako kung saan ako ilagay ni coach,” said Macandili.

Macandili and Dy, who were named reserves by Larong Volleyball sa Pilipinas, Inc., proved their worth in the Asian volleyball meet as the former emerged as one of the tournament’s best libero, while the latter became a vital cog in the Philippines’ classification match against Kazakhstan.

“Syempre what I think before pinasok ako, ibigay ko ang all ko kapag pinasok ako ang kahit anong ma-contribute ko (gagawin ko),” said Dy.

The team is still open to make line-up changes.

Macandili can replace Denden Lazaro, while Dy can also earn her spot in the roster depending on the deliberation of the coaches. Should they make the final lineup, the La Salle pair will make their debut in the biennial meet.

But whether or not Macandili and Dy will make it to the lineup, the two vowed their full support to the team in any role.

“Kung sa reserve, magchicheer ako sa team ko. Kung palaruin ako, maglalaro ako with all my heart,” said Macandili.

“Well, being a reserve, I’ll contribute pa win whatever, sa cheer or kahit ano na pwede kong maitulong basta I’ll always be behind the team,” added Dy.
