BIÑAN CITY – Ba’yi Shenzheng of China marched to the Finals after it disposed Altay VC of Kazakhstan, 25-20, 12-25, 25-12, 25-23, in the semifinals of the 2016 AVC Asian Women’s Club Championship on Saturday at Alonte Sports Arena here.
Liu Yan Han had a game-high 24 point for Ba’yi Shenzheng, which will take on the winner between NEC Red Rockets of Japan and defending champion Bangkok Glass of Thailand on Sunday.
China coach Yu Jue Min does not want to pick their opponent for the title match but insisted that they will do better in the championship.
“We don’t have a preference, we will just do our best,” he said.
Wang Yun Lu made 17 points and Tang Jun Jing added 12 for China, which dropped a set for the first time in the tournament, but remained undefeated in six games.
Yu, however, stressed that although China won the gold medal in the 2016 Rio Olympics, his team is not pressured to duplicate the same feat of the national team.
“We are not pressured at all, today we were just lucky than Kazakhstan,” he said.
Although Ba’yi Shenzheng had lesser attack points (51-54), Altay VC’s costly errors (20) made it easy for China to take the win. The Chinese only had 12 miscues in the match that took an hour and 44 minutes to finish.
Olga Biryukova made 22 points for Altay VC, while Sana Anarkulova added 17. Kazakhstan will play in the battle for 3rd against the loser of NEC Red Rockets of Japan and defending champion Bangkok Glass of Thailand.
