    Uzbek club deals Rebisco Philippines second straight loss

    UZBEKISTAN’s AGMK rose from a set down to beat Rebisco Philippines, 26-26, 25-23, 25-18, 25-19, in the Asian Men’s Club Volleyball Championship on Saturday at the Terminal 21 competition hall in Nakhon Ratchasima, Thailand.

    Bunyod Egamkulov and Bunyodbek Khosinov showed the way as AGMK bounced back from a five-set loss to Thailand’s Diamond Food to improve its win-loss record to 1-1.

    The Uzbeks dealt Rebisco Philippines its second straight loss. The Filipino Spikers lost in three sets to Sirjan Foulad Iranian in the opener.

    Rebisco tries to revive its semis bid when it faces Qatar’s Al-Arabi Sports Club on Sunday.

    Egamkulov and Khosinov scored 18 points each for the Uzbeks.

    Azizbek Kuchkorov nailed nine attacks, five kill blocks and an ace for 15 points, while Sanjar Akhtamov added 11 markers.

    Jao Umandal registered his tournament-high 19 points, all coming from attacks.

    First time national team campaigner Nico Almendras delivered the clutch hits in their first set win and finished with 14 markers.

    Mark Alfafara had seven points, while Kim Malabunga and substitute JP Bugaoan added five each.
