ATENEO made short work of Far Eastern University, 25-17, 25-19, 25-16, ending the Lady Tamaraws to a playoff for the last semifinal berth in the 76th UAAP women's volleyball tournament on Sunday at The Arena in San Juan.

Alyssa Valdez finished with 21 points, while rookie Michelle Morente added 14 for the Lady Eagles, who weeks ago had secured the No. 3 spot in the semifinals.

The Lady Eagles team captain was pleased to play pressure-free, but said they really wanted the win and gain some boost before the stepladder semis.

They hold a 10-4 win-loss record and await the winner of the playoff between FEU and Adamson, tied for fourth with 6-8 cards.

La Salle booked an automatic finals berth when it completed a sweep of the elimination round with a four-set win over National University, which is at No. 2 with a 12-2 record.

“Para sa team, sa team spirit kasi kailangan namin ng confidence at ’yung mindset na kaya namin," said Valdez.
