RACHEL Anne Daquis took charge in the endgame to help Ateneo preserve a straight-sets victory over Arellano University on Thursday in the 10th Shakey's V-League First Conference at the Arena in San Juan.

Arellano threatened to steal the third set but Daquis scored the last three points of the match to seal the win, 25-18, 25-17, 25-23, for the Lady Eagles.

The Lady Chiefs went ahead 22-21 before Daquis took charge.

"Para sa akin nakulangan ako kasi medyo slow start ko," said Daquis, Ateneo's star guest player. "Pero at least sa bandang huli kung kailan ako kailangan doon ako nag step up."

Ace spiker Alyssa Valdez scored 14 points, while Daquis added 12 points to keep Ateneo's record spotless. The Lady Eagles are 2-0 in the quarterfinals after sweeping the group stage.

The teams’ wins and losses against their groupmates in the eliminations reflect on the quarterfinal standings. Thus, the Katipunan-based squad entered the playoffs already with a 1-0 card after their win against La Salle-Dasmariñas in the eliminations.
