ATENEO rookie Dani Ravena said she is still learning the ropes in her new role as libero after making her debut in the UAAP Season 80 women’s volleyball tournament on Wednesday.
The youngest of the popular Ravena siblings got her first taste of seniors competition in the Lady Eagles’ 19-25, 19-25, 25-20, 25-12, 7-15, loss to National University at The Arena in San Juan.
The former Miriam College high school standout registered nine digs and 10 excellent receptions in the four sets that she played and later gave herself a 'pretty okay' grade.
“Siguro, I did pretty okay naman. Not enough pero I think for my first game as a player, I'm pushing myself. I did good, but I can do more,” said the sister of basketball stars Kiefer and Thirdy.
Dani, however, was quick to admit her faults when NU setter Jasmin Nabor scored three consecutive aces to finish off the game, blaming rookie jitters.
“Maybe dun ako kinabahan nung error ko nung una, nataranta siguro ako,” she said.
Ateneo coach Tai Bundit, who’s popular with his ‘happy’ and ‘heart strong’ mantra, later advised Ravena not be too hard on herself and just learn from the experience.
“Pero learning experience. Coach Tai said na just stay confident, forget the game, learn from the mistakes na nangyari tapos bawiin na lang sa next game,” she said.
