ATENEO fought back from a set down to beat La Salle, 12-25, 25-20, 25-21, 25-19, on Saturday at the Araneta Coliseum and clinch the No. 1 spot in the UAAP Season 79 women’s volleyball semifinals.
The Lady Eagles arranged a Final Four showdown with No. 4 Far Eastern University.
It was the 12th win in 14 matches for Ateneo, while La Salle takes the second spot at 11-3 and will take on the third-seeded University of Sto. Tomas Tigresses.
La Salle battles UST on April 22, while Ateneo takes on FEU on April 23.
Michelle Morente scored 14 points and made 15 digs and 17 excellent receptions, while Bea de Leon also 14 markers for the Lady Eagles.
Rookie Jules Samonte chipped in 10 markers to fill in the void left by Jhoana Maraguinot.
Maraguinot was held out for the second straight match and was relegated to cheerleading duties, while former Ateneo star Alyssa Valdez was at the gallery also cheering for the Lady Eagles.
