ATENEO kept a share of the top spot and sealed a twice-to-beat advantage in the semifinals with a 25-16, 25-16, 25-18 tour of Adamson in the UAAP Season 78 women’s volleyball tournament on Saturday at the Mall of Asia Arena.

Two-time reigning MVP Alyssa Valdez led all scorers with 16 points, Amy Ahomiro added 15 and sophomore Jhoana Maraguinot chipped in 12 for the Lady Eagles, who now carry a 10-2 win-loss card for a share of the lead with La Salle.

Valdez, however, was not very pleased with their error-strewn performance —19 miscues in a three-setter.

“We had a not super ok game today, we had a lot of errors, we had miscommunications,” she said. “We have to improve during practices for us to para maging consistent during games.”

“Madami pang kailangan ayusin ’yung team and sana magkaroon kami ng consistent games this coming weeks,” she added.

Ateneo will face also-ran University of the East on April 6 and arch rival La Salle on April 10.

Bernadette Flora scored nine points for Adamson, which dropped to 3-9.
