SCALPERS again made a killing on Wednesday as archrivals Ateneo and La Salle clashed in an all-important match in the UAAP women’s volleyball tournament.
The Lady Eagles looked to complete a sweep of the elimination round, and the Lady Spikers were out to prevent it.
Ticket prices were being sold four times the original price, and it’s not even the Finals.
Patron and patron VIP (reserved seating) tickets that cost only P300 were being sold for P1,000 to P1,200 by scalpers, and lower box tickets sold at 200 at SM tickets and at the venue were being offered by scalpers at P700 to P900.
“Mabenta pa rin,” one scalper told Spin.ph.
“May mga bumibili pa rin kahit may pasok (sa eskwela) ang mga estudyante,” he added.
The match drew thousands despite it being set on a weekday.
“Kanina pa po kami dito (sa pila) 12 noon,” said one student who opted to skip school just for the Ateneo-La Salle match.
Fans, though, had to wait longer outside the arena with the first two matches lasting four sets.
