THE much-anticipated second-round meeting between reigning UAAP women’s volleyball champion La Salle and fierce rival Ateneo will be held on February 9, a Saturday, at the Mall of Asia Arena.
The Lady Archers won their first-round meeting last Saturday, foiling the Lady Eagles’ bid for a seven-game sweep before a sellout crowd at the Filoil Flying V Arena in San Juan.
This will be the first time that the SM-owned arena will host a UAAP volleyball doubleheader, which also features the match-up between National University and University of Santo Tomas.
The second round begins tomorrow at the San Juan venue, with the Tigresses facing University of the Philippines at 2 p.m., while the La Salle takes on the Lady Bulldogs at 3:30 p.m.
The Lady Eagles try to bounce back on Sunday as they battle dangerous Adamson at 3:30 p.m., right after Far Eastern University and University of the East clash at 2 p.m.
La Salle and Ateneo are tied at 6-1, while NU, UST and Adamson are in a three-way logjam from third to fifth place with identical 4-3 record. The Lady Tamaraws, who are in sixth place at 3-4, are still very much in contention.
