ATENEO whipped University of Philippines, 25-21, 25-18, 25-12, on Monday to complete a sweep of its group in the Spikers Turf eliminations Philsports Arena in Pasig.
Anthony Koyfman scored 10, Marck Espejo and Joshua Villanueva added eight points each as the Blue Eagles scored their fifth win in as many matches in Group B.
“Keep the intensity up, that's what I've been telling my players," said Ateneo head coach Oliver Almadro.
“They should look who is the opponent, our intensity should be up always, our level should be going up always,” Almadro added.
No player scored in double digits for the Fighting Maroons, who suffered their second loss in five matches.
Ateneo will face the winner of the Far Eastern University-La Salle match on Wednesday.
UP (3-2) can still make it to the semifinals if Emilio Aguinaldo College (0-4) pulls off a win over University of Santo Tomas (3-1).
